I have neglected to write here for quite a while. It’s been a month since I took the time to post anything at all. Over the past month or so, I’ve been quite busy. I have been out of town and will be out of town even more over the coming few months. For those of you who know me, you know how much I disdain being away from home, but such is the nature of my chosen profession.
In any event, it looks as though I’ll be missing a few Sundays at my church while I drive to various destinations. My good friend and brother in Christ, Jon, will be handling my Sunday School class in my absence, which is a blessing for him AND the kids. They love their “PJ”.
I am working on a curriculum that I hope to teach to them over the next few months covering the book of Revelation. Personally, I find this book to be absolutely a beautiful picture of my Savior. Yes, it contains a LOT of graphic descriptions of the wrath of God, however it also contains a tremendous hope. You see, God is MANY things. He is loving, merciful, full of grace, provider, friend, father and yes, He is just. This book is, perhaps best known for the images that show his wrath directed toward sin. And, if I were the recipient of that wrath, I can understand how it can be VERY frightening and disturbing. However, because of Jesus, That is NOT going to happen. He took my punishment and because of Christ’s sacrifice, my sin has been separated from me “as far as the east is from the west” (Psalm 103:12). This book is a reminder of what Jesus did on my behalf. I have placed my hope in Him and He has not failed me. My love for him grows each day as I struggle to live for him.
