A poem written in 2000. This is among my favorites.
You are the Great Physician,
Healer of my body, soul and mind.
To You, I bow in humble submission.
My prayer right now is that in me you’ll find,
A man that lives a life that to you is pleasing.
I thank you for the health you have restored to me.
The abundant life you promised, is always increasing;
The glory is all yours. I just want others to see,
The God I worship and praise, creator of everything,
Has touched my body with His healing hand.
By His death and resurrection, He’s taken away death’s sting.
The peace I have discovered is available only in you;
Promised to me as just a small part of your grace.
Your word, heavenly Father, I know to be true.
Your Spirit comforts me in life’s hectic race.
In my own strength, I know I’d lose the fight.
But, through Christ, there is nothing I can’t do.
You provide me with love to share, as I shine my light.
The story I share. . . “I was lost ’til I met you.”
My soul, though stained by sin from my birth,
Is seen by You as pure, without any kind of flaw.
Death was my sentence; A cost far more than my worth.
I was condemned from the start, because I’d spurned your law.
Instead of sending me away, as your righteousness demanded,
You gave up your place in Glory to die in my place.
I was an enemy to you, self-absorbed and heavy handed.
My soul, you redeemed by your immeasurable Grace.
You are the Great Physician
Healer of my body, soul and mind
To you, I bow in humble submission.
