On April 5, 2015, my Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Some of you know that I love to write poetry (if you read much of this blog, you KNOW that I do). I wrote this poem in honor of Mom and Dad for this awesome accomplishment. I am very proud of you both and happy beyond description to see love demonstrated in our home as I grew up. Too often, kids are not able to see this happen today and I am fortunate and blessed.
Happy 50th Anniversary
Fifty years is a very long time by any measure.
It’s easy to see that it’s each other you’ve treasured.
Trouble has come and gone for many decades,
But you held close the vows you had made.
You struggled together and rejoiced as well
Love and devotion were priority, it’s easy to tell.
The two of you have spent your lives as one
Through good times and bad, you’ve not been undone.
For most of your lives, you’ve had children to raise
It wasn’t always easy, but you still taught us to praise.
And so, Mom and Dad, what I’ve been trying to say:
I wish you the happiest of anniversaries, on this, your most special day!
