I wanted to make the very first article a brief introduction, so that, just in case people who don’t really know much about me begin reading any article, they will have some basic understanding about the author.

At the time of this writing, I have been married for almost 26 years to Toni Evans (August 15 is our 26th anniversary) .  She is simply amazing and is the apple of my eye.  There is absolutely nothing I wouldn’t do for her and there is nothing I feel I cannot do with her by my side.  She completes me.  We have 4 boys and one daughter-in-law (she is pregnant with our first grandchild), all of whom I love dearly.  We are both looking forward to our little Josie in September (that’s the name of our upcoming grand baby).

I am a Christian man who has very strong beliefs.  I know that I am a filthy sinner whom God has inexplicably loved in spite of what I am.  Jesus died a horrible, painful death just for me (well, others were on his mind as well, but I know he was thinking about me personally).  In the coming days/weeks/months I will add some additional content about the birth, life and death of my loving and living savior.  The truth, though, about this relationship with God, is that it is really the main thing that defines who I am.  I am not perfect and I will NEVER be perfect while I live on this earth, but I pray often that I will be a good representative of Jesus to those with whom I interact on a daily basis.  Again, this will be the subject of future articles.

Several years ago, I was inspired to pen a few verses of poetry.  I have, also, written a few songs with my son, Peter (he wrote the music).  I will possibly post some of that here from time to time.  You can see most of it at http://www.christinverse.com/ if you are interested.

I will end this brief introduction with a short list of my beliefs concerning God, man and the relationship between us and Him.

  • I believe that God exists in three equal, but distinct Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
  • I believe that He has ALWAYS existed as three persons and that He will ALWAYS exist in three persons.
  • I believe that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
  • I believe that the Bible is the complete, Holy, unerring Word of God
  • I believe that God speaks to us through His written Word
  • I believe that God is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe
  • I believe that God created the world, including all that is in it, in 7 NORMAL days
  • I believe that God’s method of creating was by His spoken Word
  • I believe that by using his hands to form mankind, instead of simply speaking him into existence, God showed special love toward man
  • I believe that God created man in His own image and that He longs for us to recognize Him and return His amazing love toward us
  • I believe that God had a plan for mankind’s redemption even before Adam and Eve sinned, and that plan involved the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
  • I believe that God flooded the world just a few generations after creating it, and that He only saved one man, Noah, and his family, along with the animals.
  • I believe that all life now living on this earth is descended from the men and women on the ark, and the animals that God spared, both in the ark and in the seas.
  • I believe that God protects and blesses those who keep His commandments.
  • I believe that the stories of men and women in the Old Testament are meant to help us understand God and our relationship with Him
  • I believe that the Old Testament prophecies concerning Jesus point to only one man in the history of the world. That person is Jesus of Nazareth.
  • I believe that Jesus was born to a young virgin named Mary.
  • I believe that Mary was impregnated by a special working of the Holy Spirit.
  • I believe that Mary was fully human and, like all humans, was born with a sinful nature
  • I believe that Jesus was born without this sinful nature, but that He COULD have sinned, if He had chosen to.
  • I believe that He (Jesus) NEVER DID choose to sin.
  • I believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man
  • I believe that Jesus willingly chose to suffer the weight of the sin of all mankind, including mine.
  • I believe that Jesus physically gave his life and that it was not taken from him by the Roman soldiers.
  • I believe that Jesus was dead for three days and physically arose to life after that three days.
  • I believe that Jesus spent time physically with several men and women and that they saw and interacted with Him after He arose.
  • I believe that Jesus PHYSICALLY went to heaven as was seen by several men and women at that time.
  • I believe that Jesus is right now preparing a place for His people as he promised.
  • I believe that Jesus will return to take those who believe on Him back to a place of eternal companionship with Him.
  • I believe that Jesus return is imminent and that we must be ready when it happens.
  • I believe that it is man’s sin that separates us from God.
  • I believe that Jesus death and resurrection paid the debt for the sin for all who will accept that sacrifice.
  • I believe that the punishment for sin is death and eternal separation from God.
  • I believe that that separation will be in a physical place called Hell
  • I believe that Hell is a real place in which many people will suffer for all of eternity, not by God’s choice, but because of their own choice.
  • I believe that Heaven is a real place that is filled with the glory of God Almighty.
  • I believe that Jesus’ sacrifice, combined with my acceptance of that sacrifice, is sufficient for my salvation.

A couple of verses that were in my notes as I was writing out this list.

Joshua 24:15
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Romans 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
