{"id":277,"date":"2015-11-01T13:58:45","date_gmt":"2015-11-01T18:58:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/musings.butchevans.com\/?p=277"},"modified":"2015-11-01T13:58:45","modified_gmt":"2015-11-01T18:58:45","slug":"love-unrequited","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/musings.butchevans.com\/?p=277","title":{"rendered":"Love Unrequited"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This poem is one that turned into something quite different from what I set out to write. \u00a0It was written June 11, 2015. \u00a0It is a story about a journey through life of a little girl who seeks what we all seek: \u00a0Love returned to us. \u00a0I like it and I pray that someone else can find it inspiring and useful.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Love unrequited<br \/>\nby Butch Evans<br \/>\nJune 11, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Just a baby girl needing food and to be held tight.<br \/>\nUnloving arms shook her and frightened her in the night.<br \/>\nThe baby girl was unaware the reasons why and she didn&#8217;t care.<br \/>\nShe wanted only to be released from the horror of her nightmare.<br \/>\nShe loved the big people and some of them were delighted<br \/>\nBut the one called &#8220;Mom&#8221; left her love unrequited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Later in life, the girl had grown quite a bit and reached her teens.<br \/>\nThe other girls saw only her tattered clothes and they were quite mean.<br \/>\nShe was a friendly type but she was not appreciated at home,<br \/>\nAlmost as bad, the kids at her school made her feel she was all alone.<br \/>\nBut the boys that were there would touch her, but it made her feel slighted.<br \/>\nThey never stayed after getting what they wanted and her love was unrequited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">After high school, she met a young man, not like the other boys.<br \/>\nHe didn&#8217;t touch her or hit her and treat her like a broken Christmas toy.<br \/>\nHe called her &#8220;Princess&#8221; and his hugs made her feel safe and warm.<br \/>\nShe wanted to love, but it was hard to do and her heart felt torn.<br \/>\nHe continued to treat her kindly and when he saw her, he felt excited,<br \/>\nBut she didn&#8217;t understand real love and this boys love was unrequited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Some time later she heard a preacher talk about sin and repreive.<br \/>\nShe wasn&#8217;t sure what to think, but she listened and began to believe.<br \/>\nShe wanted so badly to feel what this preacher was calling love.<br \/>\nShe felt the Spirit of God move in her heart and it fit like a glove.<br \/>\nShe listened as the preacher read from Psalm 136. Reading, the preacher recited:<br \/>\n&#8220;His love endures forever.&#8221; But she feared that her love would still be unrequited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">She gave her heart and her life to God that day and she didn&#8217;t regret,<br \/>\nBecause she felt the love of God renewed each day, she couldn&#8217;t forget.<br \/>\nShe was a new creation in more ways than just what people could see.<br \/>\nShe could not understand it all or comprehend just how it could be.<br \/>\nThat a woman like her was worthy of the feelings that this love ignited.<br \/>\nFINALLY, she knew love the way it was meant to be.
